Nonprofit finances and 990s

Accountability & finances

Gifts to Valor Medica fund direct clinical care, recovery and outreach, and vocational training, through Sevadar Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, EIN 93-2840861. We send our IRS determination letter, the three most recent Form 990-series returns and our other exemption documents to anyone who asks.

What we can prove, what we will send you on request, and what we have not published yet.

Is a donation to Valor Medica tax-deductible?

Valor Medica operates under Sevadar Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, EIN 93-2840861. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for a contribution unless the receipt states otherwise.

Where does my donation go?

Gifts to Valor Medica fund three things, in this order of priority:

  1. Direct clinical care — assessment, treatment, medications and care coordination for patients who cannot pay.
  2. Recovery and outreach — counseling support, street outreach supplies, and the transport that makes appointments actually happen.
  3. Vocational training — the horticulture retraining program, its tools, materials and instruction.

How do I get Valor Medica’s Form 990?

Federal law requires exempt organizations to make certain documents publicly available, and we will send any of the following to anyone who asks, without requiring a reason:

  • IRS determination letter recognizing 501(c)(3) status
  • The three most recent annual information returns (IRS Form 990 series)
  • IRS Form 1023, the application for exemption
  • Current audited or reviewed financial statements, where prepared
  • Conflict of interest and gift acceptance policies

Write to info@valormedica.org or to the address in the sidebar. We aim to respond within five business days.

What we have not published yet

We would rather name a gap than imply it is not there. As of August 7, 2026 this site does not yet publish a program-versus-administrative expense breakdown, an annual report, or third-party charity ratings. Those will be posted here as they are completed rather than described in advance.

Fundraising practices

  • We do not sell, rent or trade donor information. Ever. See our donor privacy policy.
  • We do not use third-party telemarketers.
  • Any solicitation naming a specific program will be spent on that program, or the donor will be contacted before it is redirected.
  • We will decline a gift where accepting it would compromise clinical independence.

How is Valor Medica funded?

The foundation has to date been funded primarily by its founder rather than by public fundraising. That is unusual and it is worth stating plainly, because it shapes what we can and cannot promise: the programs are not dependent on a grant cycle, and equally they are not backed by an endowment.

What we publish

Sevadar Foundation Inc. files an annual return with the IRS, which is public. Our exempt status can be verified directly through the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search rather than taken on our word, and we would rather you checked than trusted a claim on a website.

How donor funds and supporter data are handled

We do not use donor funds to pay for solicitation of further donations as a primary activity, and we do not sell, rent or exchange supporter information. Where a gift is restricted to a purpose, it is used for that purpose or returned.

Frequently asked questions

Is Form 990 the same as 501(c)(3)?

No. 501(c)(3) is the tax-exempt status itself, confirmed in the IRS determination letter. Form 990 is the annual information return an exempt organization files with the IRS. Sevadar Foundation Inc., which operates Valor Medica, holds 501(c)(3) status under EIN 93-2840861 and files an annual return that is public. We send both documents to anyone who asks.

Does Valor Medica file a Form 990?

Yes. Sevadar Foundation Inc., the 501(c)(3) that operates Valor Medica, files an annual return with the IRS, and that return is public. We send the three most recent Form 990-series returns to anyone who asks, without requiring a reason, and aim to respond within five business days. You can also verify our exempt status through the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search.

Does Valor Medica have a charity rating?

Not yet. As of August 7, 2026, this site does not publish third-party charity ratings, a program-versus-administrative expense breakdown or an annual report. We would rather name that gap than imply it is not there. Each will be posted on this page when it is completed rather than described in advance.

Does Valor Medica sell donor information?

No. We do not sell, rent or trade donor information, and we do not use third-party telemarketers. A gift restricted to a purpose is used for that purpose or returned, and a solicitation naming a specific program is spent on that program unless the donor is contacted before it is redirected.
