Questions about giving

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. Sevadar Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, EIN 93-2840861. Valor Medica is a DBA of the Foundation. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. You will receive a receipt by email immediately, and an annual summary in January.

The detail is in our Donor Privacy Policy.

Does my gift go to Valor Villages?

No — and this matters. Gifts made here go to Sevadar Foundation Inc. (EIN 93-2840861) and fund the clinical and vocational programs on this site. Valor Villages Inc. (EIN 93-2266407) is a separate 501(c)(3) with its own board and finances. If you want to fund housing, food or case management, give directly at valorvillages.org.

The Valor Villages partnership sets out which organization funds what.

Can I direct my gift to a specific program?

Yes. Any gift designated for a named program is spent on that program, or we contact you before redirecting it.

The detail is in our Accountability & Finances.

Will you sell or share my information?

Never. We do not sell, rent, trade or share donor information with anyone, and we do not use third-party telemarketers. See our donor privacy policy.

Can I give anonymously?

Yes. Select the anonymity option when giving, or contact us and we will handle it. We still need your details for the tax receipt, but they stay internal.

This is set out in our Donor Privacy Policy.

How can I help the homeless in St. Louis?

Give, volunteer or donate supplies. A gift to Valor Medica funds direct clinical care first, then recovery and outreach, then vocational training. Monthly giving is the most useful kind, because it lets us commit to a patient’s care beyond this month. Volunteers fill clinical and non-clinical roles, including days on the prairie. If you want to fund housing or food, give to Valor Villages directly.

What is the best thing to donate to help homeless people?

Here the answer is concrete: transport, because the most common reason care does not happen is that someone could not get there; wound-care supplies that keep a small infection from becoming an amputation; medication for patients with no coverage; and tools for trainees learning a trade. For in-kind gifts we take socks, hygiene supplies and hand tools from a short, specific list.
